ICPMS, Click Here for QuickTime VR Panoramic of Lab Platinum is commonly used as a catalyst for hydrogenation, isomerization, polymerization, and other reactions. It is also used in auto exhaust mufflers for emissions control and in various drugs. Because metallic platinum is inert to many chemical reactions and is thermally stable, it is also commonly used in the laboratory for alkali fusions.
WCAS tests for trace amounts of platinum and other rare elements in industrial hygiene samples, silicone polymers, as well as a variety of pharmaceutical, biological, and environmental samples. Platinum requires an aqua regia digest to obtain stable solutions. The detection limit is normally 0.1-0.01 ug/L in solution.
